Описание:Caustics refers to the mathematical equations that describe how light converges in nature, such as the effect that is seen at the bottom of pools and lakes when light passes through the surface of the water. Cinema 4D can perform both surface and volume caustics. In this tutorial, you will learn how surface caustics can be used to create a pool with a floating translucent orb, and volume caustics can be applied to demonstrate a stained glass effect. Render settings, and time savers will also be discussed.

Описание:In this 125 step monstrosity of a tutorial you will learn everything you need to know to make a dancing ice cream bar animation in Cinema 4D, and then composite it in After Effects.
You will start off by modeling the Bar, making procedural textures for it, and creating a Soft IK rig with Cinema 4D. Then you will light the scene, set up cast shadow and AO passes, and export the final renders of the animation using batch rendering. Finally, you will bring it all into Adobe After Effects to compose the final sequences, add post blending effects, and create some simple text animations.
Don’t miss this one. Seriously..it’s HUGE!
The software that will be used is the Cinema 4D R11 Mocca module (for rigging purposes), and Adobe After Effects CS4. You will also need the “ReelSmart Motion Blur” plugin for After Effects, but it is not absolutely necessary.
You can download the necessary sound and font files, as well as the Cinema 4D and After Effects files, from the download link below. The techniques described in the tutorial are for Cinema 4D R11, but you should be able to follow along with any version above 8 (with the exception of the rigging, which has been greatly updated in R11). You need After Effects CS4 to open the AE files, although you can complete the tutorial with any version above CS.

Описание:Casting realistic looking shadows from a cg object is extremely critical to making your cg believable in a live action environment. It is, however, also extremely difficult. In this tutorial you will learn how to use Cinema 4d to make a shadow catching layer that you will then be able to composite together with the main rendered video in After Effects.

Описание:In this tutorial, “CG Choice” award winner, Fredi Voss, will teach you how to model and texture a detailed, dead tree trunk, which could be used as a foreground object in a landscape, or even as a stand alone portfolio piece.
This is an intermediate to advanced level tutorial, and not recommended for beginners. The techniques and concepts depicted within are designed to show you how to create the most detailed objects (which would be of a high enough quality to be used in the foreground of a still CG render), and also to demonstrate that several techniques can be combined together to achieve a specific result.
All screenshots were taken from Cinema 4D R11, but it should be possible to apply the hints given here to other releases as well.

Описание:This tutorial is a relatively quick overview of setting up a scene with a rigged animated object in Cinema4D. Although it should be simple to follow along to anyone with a basic knowledge of Cinema 4D, this tutorial is mainly aimed at artists migrating to Cinema4D from another package. It quickly and concisely demonstrates how to use the basic modeling tools, set up a rig with bones, use constraints, change the type of keyframes, use the auto keyframe tool, clean up keyframes, work with the time line, set up lights, set up materials, apply the materials to objects and render out an animation. Everything you need to quickly get into Cinema4D.

First, we’ll use Cinema 4D to craft a subway car using a few basic primitive shapes, while adding detail with Sweep, Extrude, and Loft NURBS elements. Then, we’ll texture and light our car to create a realistic look, and allow our CG car to blend in with our real subway environment. Finally, the MoGraph module will help us clone our car and make a long train to animate into our scene, and then we’ll do some quick adjustments in After Effects to put the finishing touches on our subway station composite.

In this tutorial you will learn how to set up Xpresso, which allows you to link the different parameters together, so that the graph can be easily animated and adjusted to fit any set of data.
If you are someone who makes corporate style videos frequently, this will provide you with a much quicker and more exciting way to visually represent data, instead of a plain Powerpoint-style slide. If you are not, then you will be able to learn some of the powerful things that you can do with animation using Xpresso and Mograph in conjunction with Cinema 4d.

Описание:When it comes to motion graphics, exporting camera data from a 3D program to a 2D compositing program is one of the most important techniques you could know. In this tutorial, you will learn the basics behind getting Cinema 4D and After Effects to talk to one another, including using exporting tags, using the camera data in After Effects within 3D layers and effects, and how to set up and tweak your render for the best results.
Before you dive in, I’d like to stress a few points:
-I’m using AfterEffects CS3 and Cinema 4D R11. Even though things may look different, the basic idea and functions are the same (but I’m not sure if you can do this prior to Cinema 4D R10 cuz it’s been a while).
-You can put any questions you may have in the comments, and I promise to read them more often and provide whatever help I can. If there’s some details you missed in this, I’ll try to put it into a future screen cast, sort of a “in case you were confused” type of thing.
-This was my first screencast, and I was really just testing out the process. I promise more of a storyboard atmosphere and better structure in the future, and I’ll have some graphics put in as well to help you understand what’s going on. I’ll try to get something that tracks my keystrokes too, but I think that might end up cluttering the screen, so I’ll wait to hear what you guys have to say. And yes, that includes improving the horrific audio. Since I was using the microphone in my webcam, it made me sound like I was 10 years old, and inside a plastic drum.

Описание:In this tutorial you will learn basic lighting in C4D. No matter if you are an intermediate user or an absolute beginner, there is something to be learned here about the many lighting & shadow options and control toggles within Cinema 4D.
The four basic light types (omni, area, infinite, and spot) and the three basic shadow types (shadow maps, raytraced, and area), and all of their correlated options will covered in detail. You will also learn about some of the lesser used lighting types, lens effects, volumetric lighting, render times, and some technical details about making light look good.
Before you begin I recommend installing the Drop To Floor plugin.

Описание:3d camera matching is simultaneously one of the most widely used and most elusive to learn CG techniques in both the film and advertising industries today. In this video tutorial, we will discuss a comprehensive method for tracking video footage, and eventually exporting it for use in your 3d package of choice.
First we will track some live action footage in Syntheyes, and then export it for use in Cinema 4D. Then, in Cinema 4D, we will create some 3d text, and also create the desk geometry that will receive the shadows and reflections. We will then export the whole scene to Realflow, where we will design a simulation using a rigid body, and export it back to C4D to apply compositing tags, and export using multipass rendering. Finally, we will bring it all into After Effects, where we will isolate the text, and apply a few finishing post effects.

Описание:Eventually we all want to move beyond tutorials and actually start to deal with clients. Whether at a production house or on your own, one of the most fundamental aspects of professional design is a solid project workflow. In this tutorial series, we’ll examine the different aspects of working in a project-like environment, and how our techniques interact with a client in a real-world situation.
Okay, full disclosure; I’m not saying that what I’m going to show here is going to work for everyone. This is just how I’ve done design and dealt with clients during the years that I’ve been doing this, and I can only hope that you take away something when it comes to moving on and looking to do this as a career. Remember that this is just an example and a guideline on the “hows and whys” of project workflow and management, and not the final word. And if any of you seasoned pros out there have any of your own tips to add, please be sure to share them in the comments so the greenhorns can learn something!
